BeGrand.net and safeguarding
BeGrand.net advises that you do not post personal, real-life information such as home addresses and home phone numbers. This also includes discussion of court cases, naming and shaming, and information which could be defamatory.

BeGrand.net account set up
Setting up a BeGrand.net account is free for anyone aged over 18-years-old and who has properly registered on the site and has not previously been banned from using it.
Each user is allowed to create one account. If you would like to change your username, please contact us and, where possible, we will change it for you while you can keep all of your profile data, posts, and other content.
The efficiency of this free service will be enhanced by your willingness to contribute details about yourself (which remain private) and about your interests in specific areas of the site upon registration and your willingness to participate in user generated activities and exchange.
The service does not however give you access to others’ email addresses and all addresses are kept confidential - messages between users can be routed via our site.
Each time you log in to BeGrand.net you are agreeing to follow the BeGrand.net guidelines.
BeGrand.net and third parties
BeGrand.net never passes any personally identifiable information on to any other organization or third party. We will however use the information to compile statistics to assist us in research, campaigning, or feedback to funders. In all cases information will be completely anonymous.
We also never email information to external parties unless you have specifically allowed us to do so, on an opt-in tick box on communication.
However we retain the right to pass on your IP address to interested authorised parties if posts contain content or images which are deemed inappropriate or which question the safeguarding of an individual or user.
Data and statistics are collected by Begrand.net. Content posted on the BeGrand.net site becomes part of the BeGrand.net property. If requested we can delete references to your name or hold information under a ghost account however the statistical data is required by the DCSF as part of their criteria for requirements for the service.
BeGrand.net and collection of information
You may be asked to submit personal information about yourself in order to receive or use services on the BeGrand.net website. Such services include the Groups and the blog entries.
We may use the information gathered in compiling anonymous statistics and research, providing you with access to the website or the services you request or otherwise. We will not sell, share or rent personally identifiable information to third parties.
By entering your details in the fields requested, you enable BeGrand.net and its service providers to provide you with the services you select. Whenever you provide such personal information, we will treat that information in accordance with this policy. When using your personal information BeGrand.net will act in accordance with current legislation and aim to meet current Internet best practice.
BeGrand.net Ltd and cookies
A cookie is a small text marker stored on your computer that enables us to track the use of our website. We use cookies to help us understand what our users’ interests and preferences are to ensure the website is as user-friendly as possible. Begrand.net Ltd and response times to service
BeGrand.net community manager and / or online advisor will endeavour to respond to the user within 2 working days. In the event of an escalating problem in the interim, the community manager can be made aware of this by contacting community@begrand.net. BeGrand.net will try to resolve issues as soon as is reasonably possible but will not be held responsible for delays in response times.
Begrand.net at the time of launch will be post moderated. The consortium reserves the right to change moderation procedures for all or some of the blog postings, and group postings as necessary.
BeGrand.net and specialist content
The Grandparents’ Association as part of the consortium, may need to access specialist content when there are concerns for grandchildren and when there is a need to protect the safety of grandchildren. The online advisor may also need to signpost appropriately to ensure the safety of grandchildren.
BeGrand.net and CRB checks
The staff who are responsible for the safeguarding of information and discussion within the groups and online community will have enhanced CRB checks as required.
BeGrand.net Ltd – Data Protection
Any personal information will be treated in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, as amended from time to time. We reserve the right to amend this policy from time to time.
BeGrand.net Ltd and our relationship with you
This agreement constitutes your agreement with BeGrand.net Ltd with respect to your use of the service. You must agree to abide by all of the guidelines contained in his agreement in order to become or remain an authorised user of the service.
BeGrand.net Ltd and your use of our service
Interpretation of our guidelines is at the discretion of BeGrand.net Ltd.
Guidelines apply to all content on the BeGrand.net Site and the community. This also includes the private messaging service available through the site and the synchronous chat facility via the online advisor.
BeGrand.net Ltd – The final word
The community staff and BeGrand.net team have the final say on anything. If you have a problem, you may make a complaint to them directly and not publicly on the website.
Creating threads or posts that question or reference administrative decisions or potential administrative decisions, such as post removals and thread closures, is not permitted. If you feel that we have made a mistake, please privately contact a team member and we will review the situation. BeGrand.net will always retain the right to amend, remove, or delete any content if deemed necessary.
If you would like a copy of your removed post so that you can adjust it and repost, please contact us.
If a user breaks our guidelines and shows a disregard for them, our community manager and /or BeGrand.net team, may remove an account. We reserve the right to deactivate any account and to edit or remove any content without warning. These guidelines are subject to change at any time without notice. We also reserve the right to restrict or terminate part of the service as deemed necessary.
You will need to ensure that any information you give for the registration process is accurate and current and that you will update it as necessary.
